World Tourism Day 2022 celebrated at Thamel Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC) celebrated 42nd World Tourism Day with the slogan ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ on September 27 2022 at Thamel. Various programs like Prabhatferi (early in the morning) Narshingha Panche Baja Lakhe Dance Newari Food Festival were celebrated in Thamel. Tourism Day is celebrated every year on September 27, this day is also being celebrated in Nepal.

Today, on Friday 13th of Shravan 2079, Thamel Tourism Development Council invited the head of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shahjiu, and the heads of ward offices related to Thamel to visit Thamel and observe the problems in the Thamel area and organize this touristic Thamel area, including the landlords and tourism businessmen of the Thamel area. A meeting was arranged.

KATHMANDU, July 17: Bhabishwor Sharma has been elected the president of the Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC). Sharma secured 772 votes while his closest contender Dhruba Adhikari got 568 votes.  Similarly, Prashaya Rajbhandari, Gita Gurung and Sahadev Dhamala were chosen as vice presidents. Rajib Pandey was picked as general secretary and Ram Chandra Giri and Punyaram Lageju as secretary and treasurer respectively. Rana bagged 333 votes and got elected to the post while his nearest competitor Arjun Lal Pradhan received 213 votes in the election held to the post. Another contender to the post, Sameer Gurung bagged 36 votes. Rajuman Dangol, Bhabishwar Sharma and Geeta Gurung of Rana panel have been elected to the three vice-president posts. Dhruba Adhikari, also from Rana panel, has been elected to the post of general secretary. Badri Timalsena and Punyaram Lageju have been elected to the post of secretary and treasurer, respectively. They are from the Pradhan panel. Samir Gurung is again elected as new president of Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC) on Wednesday. The general assembly held in the Baishali Hotel 15 unanimously formed a new executive committee. Prakash Narsingh Rana, Raju Man Dangol, Gita Gurung are elected as vice president. Similarly Bhabi Shwor Sharma as general secretary and Dabang Tamang as secretary. Likewise Narayan Khanal as treasurer and Gopal Gurung, Rajendra Bahadur Dulal, Tashi Gurung, Anil Gurung, Ratna Prasad Dulal, Ramchandra Giri, Punya Ram Lageju, and Kiran Gurung are selected as executive member.
